Company Profile

The Lower Pra Rural Bank Limited formerly known as the Esemaman Rural Bank Limited was incorporated in Ghana on the 20th day of January 1983.  The bank was licensed to operate the business of banking in August 31, 1983 as the 66th rural bank in Ghana.

The registered office and the head office of the bank is at Shama, which is 25km from Takoradi, the Western Regional Capital.  The bank has within its twenty-five years of operations provided banking services to the Shama and the Mpohor Wassa East Districts in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Area.

The Lower Pra Rural Bank Limited is a public limited liability company with authorised capital of Five Million Ordinary Shares and One Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand preference Shares of no par value.

The Shareholders are individuals in the bank’s catchment area. The Bank of Ghana owns the total of the Preference Shares.

As part of it social responsibilities to its catchment area Lower Pra Ladies Association on 2nd September 2011, with the support of the bank, has donated items worth over GHC 5000.00 to the Ivorien refugees at the Ampain Refugee camp.

Rural Bank of the year award - 1991
 The bank received the best-operated Rural Bank Award in 1991, in recognition of its expanded and improved services to customers.  This was awarded by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (Ghana).

 

National Good Corporate Citizen Award - 1996

This honour was done to the bank in recognition of the positive contribution to the Civic Community and Ghana in the area of finance. The certificate was received on the occasion of the 5th Ghana International Trade Fair from the President of the Republic of Ghana then Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.

 

Ghana Club 100 Membership
The bank had been selected for the Ghana Club 100 since its inception. That is, 2002 to 2008.

 

Corporate Social Responsibility

The bank was ranked third in Ghana in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility by the Ghana Investment Promotion Council in 2005.
The bank has provided a community library for Shama and its environs to encourage learning among the youth.
